308 – Genesis – Land of Confusion

Land of Confusion is Genesis on its peak as far as I’m concerned, with an excellent videoclip by Spitting Image. Those lyrics are as relevant as ever.
Yesterday I went to see Katzenjammer on their sold out gig in Doornroosje, Nijmegen. They did a really terrific cover!
Official clip.
Excellent cover by Norse band Katzenjammer

307 – Black Sabbath – Iron Man

Black Sabbath from way back when Ozzy Osborne was still somewhat remotely resembling a normal human being. I love that drumming style here, simple power hacking.
Live on trippy TV.
Live in France 1970.
Beavis & Butthead watching Iron Man (must see!).
The Bad Plus covering it into a jazzzzz version (which anticharacteristically I like a lot).

306 – Status Quo – Caroline

Status Quo rocks! Oh wait, that’s a bit superfluous to say of course.
Playbacking in the 1970s.

305 – EELS – Saturday Morning

This song by Eels from their 2003 album Shootenanny is going to be played by the band I play guitar and sing lead vocals in. I like it a lot! It’s gonna be a challenge to play both guitar parts on one guitar though.
Official song on Vevo (which sucks ’cause I won’t be able to [...]

304 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Our House

This is the last installment in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
It’s just on the verge of not being a too sweet song… but I’ve known it all my life and know it by heart, so it’s got to be on here.
I won’t post the song Déjà Vu because I hate it. All that low [...]

303 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Suite: Judy Blue Eyes

We continue this program with the 6th song in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
Stephen Stills wrote this. I’m not sure if Neil Young is on here, as he is not present on all songs; and on his request was not filmed at Woodstock.
Song with pics.
Live at Woodstock 1969.

302 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Helpless

Here is the 5th song in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
This was the first song by Neil Young I knew. My dad used to play this a lot on cassette when I was small. A lot of good memories are connected to this song.
Song with sleeve.

301 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Almost Cut My Hair

On to the 4th song in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
As a long haired guy, who now and then likes to cut his hair as short as possible, Almost Cut My Hair is kind of like the song of my life. Sung by David Crosby with some great ad lib soloing by Stephen Stills [...]

300 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Woodstock

3rd song in my series of Déjà Vu songs, and the 300th song on this here site!
Woodstock is of course a seminal song for an entire generation; though I had to play it for a colleague who didn’t know it. There are 3 well known versions of Woodstock; Joni Mitchell’s original version (which I don’t [...]

299 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Country Girl

Let’s do a round of Déjà Vu! It’s got to be one of the most important albums to me; taught me how to do harmonies, taught me how to rock out, taught me not to care when things weren’t as perfect as I wanted them to be.
Country Girl is a song that consists of three [...]
