Yesterday I went to see Katzenjammer on their sold out gig in Doornroosje, Nijmegen. They did a really terrific cover!

Black Sabbath from way back when Ozzy Osborne was still somewhat remotely resembling a normal human being. I love that drumming style here, simple power hacking.

This song by Eels from their 2003 album Shootenanny is going to be played by the band I play guitar and sing lead vocals in. I like it a lot! It’s gonna be a challenge to play both guitar parts on one guitar though.

This is the last installment in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
It’s just on the verge of not being a too sweet song… but I’ve known it all my life and know it by heart, so it’s got to be on here.

I won’t post the song Déjà Vu because I hate it. All that low register noodling that has to pass for a solo, and the disconnected harmonica parts, plus too many motifs… hate it, hate it, hate it.

Here is the 5th song in my series of Déjà Vu songs.
This was the first song by Neil Young I knew. My dad used to play this a lot on cassette when I was small. A lot of good memories are connected to this song.

As a long haired guy, who now and then likes to cut his hair as short as possible, Almost Cut My Hair is kind of like the song of my life. Sung by David Crosby with some great ad lib soloing by Stephen Stills and Neil Young. You can’t get ‘em much better than this.

3rd song in my series of Déjà Vu songs, and the 300th song on this here site!
Woodstock is of course a seminal song for an entire generation; though I had to play it for a colleague who didn’t know it. There are 3 well known versions of Woodstock; Joni Mitchell’s original version (which I don’t like that much), this one, and one by Matthews Southern Comfort (which I think sounds bland).

Let’s do a round of Déjà Vu! It’s got to be one of the most important albums to me; taught me how to do harmonies, taught me how to rock out, taught me not to care when things weren’t as perfect as I wanted them to be.
Country Girl is a song that consists of three parts: Whisky Boot Hill, Down Down Down and Country Girl (I Think You’re Pretty).
Down Down Down appears on a demo tape by Buffalo Springfield, a band where Neil Young and Stephen Stills where members of before Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young started.
