46 - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Jammin’ Me

The Petty-craze at our house continues, because our son requests the Greatest Hits cd every day to be played. Previously his favorite was The Waiting, nowadays it’s Everything that’s rock ‘n’ roll.
I on the other hand discovered this American number 1 hit that is not included on the Greatest Hits album. Don’t know why that is, because it’s a great song, co-written with Bob Dylan.

I saw them on Rockpalast around ‘77. They had only one album and were pretty unknown then. It was in the middle of punk/new wave-era, and TP&H were marketed as a New Wave-band.

We have the Running Down a Dream documentary, and there is footage from a Rockpalast gig on there. Apparently they were so high on the hash they got in Amsterdam the day before that the performance was not that standard rock and roll you’d expect from them…
